Slide Share and Audio Production
Slideshare.net is a website that allows you to upload slide shows (from Power Point, Keynote etc.) to be viewed by anyone on the web. The site also offers the ability to sync audio, using programs such as GarageBand (see below), with a slideshow presentation to create slidecasts. This is a useful tool for business meetings and things of that nature. It's also useful for the purposes of sharing information and opinions with people who have similar interests. Slideshare allows people to comment on slides shows as well. This essentially leads to discussions and creates communities where people can share ideas and have them critiqued. I recently posted a slidecast on slideshare.net as another project for this class. Please, go check it out and let me know what you think.
Audio Production
Audio Production is becoming increasingly easier in today's society. Programs such as Apple's GarageBand make it so that anyone can record audio and upload it on to the Internet. The uses of doing so, range from making podcasts, to instructional videos, to creating music (and of course much more). Music can be uploaded to sites such as MySpace for the whole world to hear. This creates self promotion opportunities for bands and helps them to be discovered by record labels. It also allows opportunities to create parody songs and things of that nature for the sole purpose of amusing your friends; which can be seen in this music MySpace site that I created with my roommate at 2:00 in the morning.
